SPECIAL EDUCATION

The Goals and Objectives of the Special Education Program:

  1. To empower children with special needs with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive.

  2. To support families of children with special needs by creating a caring, competent, and collaborative learning community.

  3. To promote inclusivity, acceptance, and respect within the larger community to enable children with special needs to excel in their own unique ways.

  • In this program, Marymount Academy has two learner placements: Mainstreaming and Special Day Class. In Mainstreaming, the student has been deemed to be able to cope with the regular academic program of general education students, and just needs minimal monitoring. In the Special Day Class, students are placed in smaller groups, or take their classes individually. In this placement, inclusion is done during certain subjects. In both programs, the student will have a Special Education teacher assigned as his/her case manager. The placement will depend on the results of the assessments of the doctor, therapists and teachers, as well as our standardized tests. An Individualized Educational Program will also be put in place, and is a collaboration of the aforementioned persons.

  • Marymount Academy believes in inclusivity in education. No learner is left behind.
